As we continue navigating this constantly changing and evolving world, we realize the need for continued online offerings. Though each one of us would rather be together, in person, there is something to be said for the importance of community in any form we can find it.
All of our Summer Camps and Preschool offerings are created with the intention to create space where each child can feel seen, heard, and valued. While we explore various topics like Bees, Science, and Space, we always bring it back to exploring the world within through practices of Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation. The more we know ourselves, the more empowered we can be in sharing who we are, and our unique talents, with the world.

2020 Virtual Summer Camps

June 1-5, 10:00am - 12:00pm

Did you know that honey bees dance to communicate with one another? Or that while the well-known honey bee lives in collaborative hives, there are other solitary bees that burrow into the ground? Join us to learn about the science and magic of these important pollinators. From the social structure of the honey and bumble to the solitary nature of wild hole-nesting bees, bees are fascinating creatures!

We will explore ideas of connection to our inner world and connection to the community of students that gather online, all while mindfully practicing ways to be present in body, mind, and breath. By working creatively through art projects to engage the senses,  and embodying practices of yoga, we will create a more in-depth understanding of what it means to Be Present.

Join us for a week of bees as metaphor to introduce and explore mindfulness meditation concepts in a kid-friendly way.

June 8-12, 10:00am - 12:00pm

Join us for a week of exploring the cosmos, both in the universe “out there” and the one that lies within.

Throughout the week we will explore our inner worlds through yoga poses and breathing techniques, along with meditation and games to bring attention to the vast inner landscape awaiting exploration. These practices will pair with setting our sights on the stars in the sky, where we will look at how ancient civilizations thought about the stars, learn about how sailors use the map of the skies to guide their way across the open seas, and participate in creative activities involving the sun and the constellations.

Our collective focus will center on recognizing ourselves as a unique but important piece of all that surrounds us, empowering each student with a rememberance of the bright light they are. Join in for a week of building confidence and connection to the inner compass to better navigate the world at large.

June 22-26, 10:00am - 12:00pm

This week we will spend time considering cultures from around the world, looking at geography, food, famous landmarks, art, and animals associated with each region. Using our virtual passports, we will visit Mexico, Iceland, France, Egypt, India, Australia, and Japan. Folktales, celebrations & festivals, and incorporating games will color our exploration around the globe. While discovering new perspectives, and perhaps hearing new stories, we will weave together the fabric of how similar and unique different cultures and people have been throughout time.

Each class will include movement, both as brain breaks, and as a way to embody what we learn about each location. Join us for a week of colorful celebration of the diversity – and familiarity – we can find around the world.

July 6-10, 10:00am - 12:00pm

Come explore a less-well-known element of our anatomy: the Chakra System. Associated with the endocrine system, and tied closely to our nervous system and emotional experience of ourselves and our environment, the chakras create flow and harmony within our bodies. Running along our spine, these seven energy centers develop throughout our childhood and create our subtle body – the sixth sense of our emotions. The greater understanding we have of when these develop and how to find a balanced flow of energy, the greater chance we have of knowing ourselves more fully and authentically.

During the week, we will explore the characteristics of each chakra through movement, breath work, games, play, and crafts. We will think about what it feels like when energy is moving too slowly or too quickly, and what it’s like to feel balanced. While we each have a unique experience, there are some shared qualities such as feeling “butterflies in your stomach” when nervous or excited felt right in the pit of the stomach where the 3rd chakra spins. You might also feel dizzy or hot or cold, but that physiological response that many people share, in the same space of the body, is remarkable!

We will move through specific yoga poses aimed to help establish calm, centered flow of energy in each chakra, as well as incorporating breathing exercises, affirmations, and meditations that are helpful tools when feeling energetically or emotionally out of balance.

July 13-17, 10:00am - 12:00pm

Join us for an adventurous exploration of different ecosystems around the world. From the icy tundra to the tropical rainforests, from forest covered mountains to arid deserts we will dive into looking at characteristics of the habitats including plants and animals within each. We will discuss unique aspects of each individual ecosystem’s sustainability, symbiotic relationships that exist within and between each that keep them running.

As we examine how different systems work together, we will equally look at systems in the human body. Through the practice of yoga we will incorporate animal poses found in various ecosystems, while also exploring ideas of what it means to find balance and harmony within ourselves. We will also look at how we can impact ecosystems in a positive way, examining ways to live in a sustainable way, in harmony not only with ourselves but with everything around us.

July 20-24, 10:00am - 12:00pm

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Warrior 3!

During camp this week we will soar into the world Superheroes, using their strength and courage to reflect the strength and courage that exists within each of us. We will look at myths and well-known heroes journeys along with contemporary superheroes of the DC and Marvel kind.

But Superheroes are more than beings in fancy suits with otherworldly powers – there are everyday heroes such as doctors and firefighters, teachers and even kids who choose to act in extraordinary ways. Being a hero can include saving someone’s life, or be as simple as making someone smile. This camp includes storytelling and story creating, practicing power poses, and using yoga to fully embody ideas of bravery, power, and fun.

10% Proceeds go to Austin Justice Coalition

July 27-31, 10:00am - 12:00pm

This week in camp we will spend time looking at the basics of yoga, examining common poses, learning the story behind their creation, getting familiar with the Sanskrit names and body position of each. We will spend time reviewing the history of yoga and some age-appropriate philosophy. We will also spend time creating our own poses and stories around them, practicing both leading and sharing as well as listening and sharing. By the end of our week together, we’ll have a full set of pose knowledge under our belts, as well as classic breathing and meditation practices.

We will also look at how this relates to setting foundations in our everyday lives. With ideas like setting intentions, creating routines, and times to practice, we are able to create a calm, stable place to grow from. We will reenforce these ideas of practicing finding our places of calm so that in moments of stress we have a place to return to.
